About MGF
Make Good Foundation is dedicated to advancing
Restoration, Identity, and Community.
Through scholarships, the RIC Framework, research, training, and public engagement, we seek to create opportunities for individuals and communities to flourish.
Rooted in the Christian faith and informed by lived experience, theological reflection, and practical engagement, the Foundation works at the intersection of education, reintegration, and social transformation.
We believe that lasting change requires more than personal determination alone. Transformation is strengthened when people are recognised, supported, and given meaningful opportunities to participate, contribute, and belong.
Our work seeks to build pathways from exclusion to participation, helping individuals discover renewed purpose, develop resilient identities, and become active members of their communities.
Our work is guided by a simple conviction:
"The foundations of lasting transformation are established through restoration, indentity, and community"
Our Story
Make Good Foundation was founded in 2025 by Steven Gordon out of lived experience, academic study, and a growing conviction that transformation requires more than personal change alone.
Having experienced imprisonment, addiction, recovery, higher education, and reintegration firsthand, Steven became increasingly aware that while transformation is possible, it is often not recognised, supported, or sustained within the communities people return to.
Through theological study, practical ministry, churche engagement, charities, and educational institutions, a recurring question emerged:
How does transformation become socially real?
How do individuals move from exclusion to participation?
How do communities recognise, support, and sustain positive change?
And what conditions enable transformation not only to begin, but to endure?
These questions led to the development of the RIC Framework, which explores how lasting transformation is strengthened through renewed identity, meaningful participation, and belonging.
Make Good Foundation was established to create pathways from exclusion to participation through scholarships, research, training, and public engagement. Its work seeks to support individuals, equip communities, and contribute to wider conversations about restoration, reintegration, and human flourishing.
At the heart of the Foundation is a simple belief:
"Transformation becomes sustainable when people are recognised, welcomed, and given a place to belong"
Why We Exist
Transformation is possible, but it is not always sustained.
Many people experience significant change in their lives, yet still struggle to access pathways into education, community, meaningful participation, and belonging. Too often, transformation is measured primarily by behaviour or stability, while deeper questions of identity, recognition, purpose, and contribution remain unaddressed.
As a result, positive change can remain fragile. Individuals may have changed, yet continue to encounter barriers to participation, acceptance, and opportunity.
We believe that transformation becomes stronger when it is recognised, supported, and sustained within community.
Without opportunities to contribute, belong, and be recognised, change can struggle to take root and endure.
Make Good Foundation exists to explore and address this challenge.
"Through scholarships, the RIC Framework, research, training, and public engagement, we seek to create pathways from exclusion to belonging and support forms of transformation that are not only personal, but recognised, supported, and sustained within community"
Our Approach
Make Good Foundation seeks to support sustainable transformation by creating pathways into education, participation, and community.
We recognise that lasting change is rarely achieved through personal determination alone. It is strengthened when individuals have access to opportunities, communities are equipped to support transformation, and wider conversations help shape cultures of belonging and participation.
Our work is centred around three interconnected areas:
Scholarships
We support access to education and personal development opportunities, recognising the vital role that learning can play in expanding opportunity, building confidence, and opening pathways towards long-term flourishing.
The RIC Framework
The RIC Framework provides a practical way of understanding how transformation becomes sustainable. It explores how restoration, renewed identity, meaningful participation, and community contribute to lasting change.
Research, Training & Public Engagement
We engage with churches, charities, educational institutions, and community organisations through research, workshops, speaking engagements, and public conversations. Through this work, we seek to equip communities, inform practice, and contribute to wider discussions about reintegration, belonging, formation, and human flourishing.
"Together, these areas reflect our commitment to creating pathways from exclusion to belonging and supporting transformation that is recognised, supported, and sustained within community"

Christian Ethos
Make Good Foundation is rooted in the values of the Christian faith and shaped by the belief that every person is created in the image of God, possessing inherent dignity, worth, and potential.
This conviction informs our understanding of transformation, not simply as behavioural change, but as a process of restoration that involves identity, belonging, purpose, and participation within community.
Our work is inspired by the life and teachings of Jesus Christ and reflects a commitment to restoration, reconciliation, and human flourishing.
"We work alongside churches, Christian organisations, and wider partners to help create communities in which individuals can grow, contribute, and belong.
"We believe that transformation is strengthened when people are recognised, welcomed, and given meaningful opportunities to participate in the life of their communities"
Founding Phase
Make Good Foundation is currently in its founding phase, establishing the relationships, governance structures, and partnerships needed to support its long-term mission.
As the Foundation develops, our focus is on strengthening the three pillars of our work:
Scholarships, the RIC Framework, and Research, Training & Public Engagement.
We are committed to building carefully and responsibly, ensuring that our work is guided by strong governance, meaningful collaboration, and a clear vision for sustainable impact.
"Through this foundation-building phase, we are developing the structures, resources, and partnerships necessary to support individuals, equip communities, and contribute to wider conversations about
Restoration, Identity, and Community"
